Austin City Music Festival 2013

The Austin City Limits Music Festival takes place October 4th to 6th weekend and the October 11th to 13th weekend. The festival is an annual three-day affair that features major stars and up and coming artists. There is literally something for everyone with eight stages and over 130 bands. There is a rich diversity of genres represented included Americana, Indie, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Bluegrass, Country, Folk, and Rock music. The festival takes its name from the legendary PBS concert series. Austin City Limits set the bar high for concert television. Over the years it has featured the legendary performers in almost every genre. Austin City Limits has also introduced numerous musical artists to a wider public and help jumpstart their careers. The ACL Festival follows very much in the footsteps of Austin City Limits and shares a similar philosophy in showcasing new, as well as established artists.

The list of headliners at this year’s festival includes Depeche Mode, The Cure, Kings of Leon, Atoms for Peace, Wilco, Vampire Weekend, The National, Phoenix and Eric Church In addition to the headliners, a large variety of well-established acts, such as the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama, and upcoming artists are featured as well.

The 2012 ACL is the 12th annual Austin City Limits Music festival. The festival is held at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas.

Additional Features

A variety of other activities and treats are available in addition to music at the festival. Tons of food, arts and crafts, and kid activities make the festival a family-friendly affair. One of the highlights for children is “Kiddie Limits: presented by Rosetta Stone. Kiddie Limts is open from 11:00am to 4:30pm. It is open to kids of all ages and kids under 10 get in for free. Children can easily get bored and irritable at an all day festival. Kiddie Limits gives kids and their families a break from the crowds. Kids are able to play and engage in a large variety of creative activities. You can return to the music with renewed energy and enthusiasm,

The Art Market offers a variety of arts and crafts, clothing, boots, accessories and festival souvenirs. The Art Market is located in the center of Zilker Park. A General Store provides a variety of goods and necessities for festival patrons. If you forgot to pack a necessary item or if you run short of necessary supplies, you can visit the General Store and replenish your festival survival kit.

Myspace Contest

The ACL Festival is sponsoring a contest on Myspace. The prize is the “Ultimate Festival Bag.” The contents include all the essential items necessary to make the festival an enjoyable experience. The bag also includes a t-shirt, hoodie, hat, earplugs, water bottle, towel, and beach mat. One winner will be announced on Wednesday, October 2. A second winner will be chosen on Wednesday, October 9.

The ACL Festival has a list of prohibited items. Make sure not to bring any of the following items. You will end up holding up the line and making everybody irritable. A partial list of prohibited items includes:

  • Alcohol (Alcohol is sold by vendors on the festival grounds)
  • Large or framed backpacks

  • Weapons of any kind Skateboards or bicycles
